Popular rights-cleared image source educators “can’t live without” gets even better

Britannica Digital Learning today announced a new and significantly upgraded version of its popular ImageQuest™ resource for schools and libraries.

ImageQuest provides nearly three million rights-cleared photos and other images for homework, classroom activities and lesson plans. Images come from more than 50 of the best collections in the world, including the Bridgeman Art Gallery, Dorling Kindersley Images, Getty Images, the National Geographic Society and Encyclopaedia Britannica.

The newly released ImageQuest includes a host of features that make finding and working with images easier and more efficient. Besides the new panoramic home page, it has new filtering mechanisms for refining a search, the ability to enlarge images, features for searching and working with multiple images at once, prepared image albums on popular topics and project ideas for teachers.

“This has been one of our most successful educational products ever, and now it’s even better,” said Michael Ross, general manager of Britannica Digital Learning and a senior vice president at Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. “I think users will immediately recognize the value of the enhancements we’ve introduced, as will educators discovering it for the first time.”

At a time when proficient visual literacy skills are being increasingly expected of students, ImageQuest has been greeted with enthusiasm by educators. Recognized for its unique value as a source of high-quality images that can be used freely for a wide range of educational projects, the product has won the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Association of American Publishers, and several educational publications have given it highly recommended ratings. One reviewer called it “a must-have database,” while another wrote, “Now that I’ve used it, I don’t think I can live without it.”
