Britannica Launches e-Commerce Site for Schools and Libraries
May 29, 2014
An easy way for institutions to browse and purchase
Britannica Digital Learning has made it easier for U.S. schools and libraries to browse and purchase its educational products with a new e-commerce site at shop.eb.com.
The site allows teachers, principals, district administrators and librarians to examine more than a thousand products ranging from e-books to comprehensive digital-learning solutions to reference products. Customers can make purchases at the site with a credit card or purchase order from their institutions. The site supplements the work of the Britannica sales and support staff, providing an alternative buying experience for those who want it.
“We have one of the best account-support staffs in education, and they’re always there for customers who have questions, need information and so on. But sometimes you just know what product you want, or you just prefer shopping online, and when you do this site is for you,” said Michael Ross, general manager of Britannica Digital Learning and a senior vice president at Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc.
The site is easy to use. Customers can search by keyword or browse by one of three product categories: e-book and print titles, online resources and special collections. Searches can be focused by subject, interest level, reading level or grade using the filtering menu. Select new products are featured on the home page.
A wish list feature allows browsers to add items for review or purchase at a later time or to share with others. Sample content for the products is available for review. A video with more information and instructions is available at the site.
Qualified customers can receive a twenty-percent discount on their first order at the site by entering the promotional code:20%OFF during checkout.
