We’re excited to unveil the new Britannica Escolar, a refreshed, expanded Spanish-language learning platform created to better support students and educators across elementary, middle school, and high school. Developed with input from teachers and shaped by the needs of multilingual classrooms, this release brings richer content, a more intuitive experience, and tools that help students think critically and explore topics confidently in Spanish.
A Seamless Experience from Elementary Through High School
The new Britannica Escolar now includes three distinct learning levels, Primaria, Secundaria, and Preparatoria, giving students a consistent, supportive experience as they grow. High school content previously found in Britannica Moderna now lives within the new Preparatoria level, giving schools one unified platform for Spanish-language learning.
This connected progression helps educators build knowledge systematically, support differentiation, and guide students toward deeper inquiry as they advance through grade levels.
Authentic Spanish Content Students Can Trust
All newly added content in this release is written natively in Spanish by Spanish-language editors, rather than translated from English. This ensures that articles feel natural, culturally relevant, and accurate for Spanish-speaking learners across the U.S., Latin America, and beyond.
Students will find age-appropriate, engaging content across:
- Ciencia
- Estudios sociales
- Biografías
- Temas globales
- Historia universal y de EE. UU.
The result is a platform that fills critical gaps with material students recognize, connect with, and confidently use for research and classroom learning.
A Simple, Intuitive Design That Supports Exploration
The redesigned interface mirrors the clean, structured experience of the English version of Britannica School. Students benefit from:
- Clear navigation
- Improved search tools
- Organized article structures
- Visual enhancements for readability

These updates help learners find what they need quickly and build independence as they explore topics in Spanish.
Built-in Supports for Reading, Research, and Comprehension
Across all three levels, students have access to tools that strengthen literacy and inquiry skills, including:
- Read-aloud functionality
- Vocabulary and comprehension supports
- Citations for responsible research
- Images, videos, and diagrams integrated into text
These scaffolds help multilingual learners build confidence while developing essential Spanish-language reading and research skills.
