StandOut Award Semi-Finalist

Meet Bryan Chase Haecker

Woodshop Teacher | San Antonio, TX

Bryan Chase Haecker made the decision to become a  teacher after working in the construction industry for 15 years because he wanted to do more with his professional experience and his degree in architectural interior design. A teacher for over 10 years, Bryan enjoys sharing his love of wood carpentry and construction with students from the 9th to the 12th grade, driving interest to an industry that is important but often overlooked.

Bryan has turned what some would consider a general elective into a class where students not only use their skills and knowledge for academic purposes but also to perform community service. Students have contributed wood carpentry services to Habitat for Humanity, built furniture and toys for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and more.
