Welcome to Britannica School

Welcome to Britannica School

Explore Key Features

Britannica School is designed to be intuitive, flexible, and supportive of diverse learners.

Students move through articles using media galleries, tables of contents, and related content to build understanding and explore topics independently.

Adjust reading levels without losing instructional rigor and use read-aloud support, translations, text-to-speech, and OpenDyslexic font options to meet student needs.

Images, videos, timelines, maps, and primary sources are integrated throughout the platform to support inquiry and deeper learning.

Save content to Resource Packs, generate citations, and share articles directly to Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams.

FAQ and Troubleshooting

Saving content and organizing it into resource packs requires a personal My Britannica account. If you are not signed in, the Save option will not store content.

This usually happens when authentication cookies are being cleared by browser settings or network security software. If cookies are deleted regularly, Britannica cannot maintain the login session. Your IT team may need to allow Britannica authentication cookies on network devices.

Sharing tools depend on your school’s subscription and account permissions. If these options are not visible, your institution may not have them enabled or they may be restricted by account settings.

Translation uses Google Translate to generate a machine-translated version of the article. Because this version is not part of Britannica’s original content system, tools such as Cite, Save, Send, or Read-Aloud may be disabled.

Lesson plan tools require a personal My Britannica account and signing in as an educator. If you are not signed in, the lesson planning tools will not appear.

Many topics are available at multiple reading levels, but some specialized subjects may have only one version.

Primary Sources and E-Books are available only in the Middle and High levels of Britannica School. Students accessing the Early Elementary and Elementary levels will not see these resources.

Reading level selection is controlled individually by each user. Changing the level adjusts the content only for that user.

Every article, image, and video includes a built-in citation tool that generates MLA, APA, Chicago, or Harvard citations.

From an article page, open the related section, and select the Teacher option to view correlated curriculum standards.

For the best performance, use the latest version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.

Possible causes include slow Internet connections, outdated browsers, or network filtering.

Some resources require a PDF reader. If one is not installed, your browser may prompt you to download one.

The dictionary works by double-clicking a word within article text. It may not work on headings, images, or interactive media.

For best results, use the Print icon within the article toolbar, which opens a formatted print version including a citation.

Educators can access teaching tools, lesson resources, and instructional strategies through Teach Britannica in the main navigation.

Contact your school librarian, administrator, or IT department to confirm your institution’s subscription and network configuration.
